About The Apogee Project
The Apogee Project, based in Cardiff, UK, provides a range of assistive technology services to children and adults. We host specialists and clients in our state-of-the-art sensory and therapy space, as well as visiting clients in their homes for assistive technology assessments. In partnership with Tobii Dynavox, we are bringing outdoor communication boards to education settings around the UK. And last but not least, we offer a website full of accessible educational activities and games!
Meet Chris,
founder of Apogee
The Apogee Project is the fulfilment of a long-time dream of Chris Peak, an Assistive Technology Specialist. Chris is a dad of five, and daughter Harriet is the official tester for new games and devices at the Apogee Space!
Chris started working with young people with complex additional needs almost 20 years ago. Their joyful approach to every day inspired him to develop his own skills and provide services he felt were needed in the sector. Chris trained as an Assistive Technology Specialist and began providing consultations and ongoing support for clients, as well as their families and schools.
He noticed a lack of provision for young-adult school leavers. These young people needed a place where they could access a range of therapies, technologies and sensory experiences under one roof. The idea for the Apogee Space was born. In January 2023, Chris found the perfect spot in Penarth, near Cardiff, and got to work kitting it out with a range of equipment and devices, from sensory swings to switch-controlled gaming consoles. Later that year, the Apogee Space welcomed its first visitor.
Chris continues to provide consultations and to run the Apogee Space, while the Apogee Project rapidly expands its services and helps more and more people learn, play, communicate and get the most out of life!
